Generally, a standard new patient examination consists of between 2 and 4 intra-oral x-rays (022) as well as a panoramic/full mouth x-ray (037) if necessary. These radiographs enable us to look at areas between the teeth and underneath existing fillings that may not be visible to the naked eye. Depending on your circumstances, the treating dentist may feel that it is necessary to take less or more x-rays to assist in the diagnosis

Please note that we only use digital radiographic technology and the radiation exposure from these x-rays is significantly less than older film based systems.

Our check up and clean package ($119) is only available for non-insurance patients. The total cost of this package has been significantly discounted and would usually consist of the following items and prices:

• Examination (011, 012) – $70
• Intraoral X-Ray (022) – $50 each
• Panoramic X-Ray (037) – $70 each
• Clean (111 or 114) – $70 – $119
• Topical Fluroide Treatment (121) – $45

For Insurance patients it is important to note that we do not take a gap payment on the above item codes. Most Health Funds will provide a fixed rebate regardless of the amount claimed. The actual amount claimed from your health fund will vary from location to location and follows a different fee schedule than the above. Some locations may have agreements with certain Health Funds to be a “preferred provider” and our fees would follow that fee schedule.

We endeavor to ensure that our Insurance fee schedule remains highly competitive and use the ADA National Fee Survey as well as the Medicare Child Benefit Scheme for comparison. In 2015 the average fees charged by private dentists in Victoria were:

• Intraoral X-Ray – $60 each
• Panoramic X-Ray – $175 each
• Clean (114) – $150 – $190
• Topical Fluroide Treatment – $75
